Aqua Nova is a simulator product from Sega, and designed through their AM5 division, with Digital Universe providing additional support.
The ride is an interactive 3D CGI-animated ridefilm, featuring moving and tilting seats.[1] Guests wear 3D glasses as the ride simulates a submarine which is attacked by a large sea squid that intends to destroy a city. The film has over sixteen different endings depending if the monster is "shot" enough using the on-seat controls.
Completed attractions
At least nine instalments were produced, which no longer operate or exist. The attraction debuted with Fukuoka Joypolis in April 1996. It made appearances at four Joypolis amusement parks and two Sega Arena game centers in Japan; while internationally, it was also located in the United Kingdom, Australia and Brazil.
By 2005, the final installment of the attraction that remained in operation was the Tokyo Joypolis installment. After it was removed, it was relocated to Player's Arena in Shanghai, opening with the park in December 2005 and remaining operation until at least the park's full closure in 2011.
