The ride opened on 16 July 1992 as Colorado. In 1998, it was renamed to Calamity Mine.
During the 2007-2008 off-season, Calamity Mine was updated. In its first years of operation, Calamity Mine also had a water effect in the middle of the lake. Every time the train went over the water, water jumped up on both sides of the train. In 2012, the effect returned after several years of absence.
Three trains each with five cars per train. Each car has three rows of two riders except the first car, which only has a single row. Each train seats 26 riders. The trains are designed to look like steam trains.
