Percolator was a Teacups ride previously located at Frontierland Western Theme Park in Morecambe, Lancashire, England, UK. It opened at the park in 1991.

History

The ride was originally built and first operated at Magic Harbor in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, USA as Teacups. It opened at an unknown date, but it is believed to be 1969 or earlier. It would operate at the park over various owners over the years, including Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the UK.

When Blackpool Pleasure Beach closed the park after 1986, Teacups was one of the few rides that were removed by them and was transferred to one of their other parks in the UK. The ride later reopened at Frontierland Western Theme Park at Morecambe, Lancashire, England, UK in 1991 as Percolator.[1][2][3][4] It was repainted into new colours at its new location.

The ride continued to operate at the park until 1998, when it was closed along with the back section of the park as part of the park's downsizing and eventual closure over a three year period.[5]

Following its removal from the park in 1998, parts of the ride were later sent to and were spotted onsite at sister park Pleasureland Southport in Southport, Merseyside, England, UK, however the ride was never reassembled and was later eventually scrapped. Some of the parts were stored on as part of the former Southport Zoo site acquired for the park for future expansion.[6]
