Predator is a wooden roller coaster located at Six Flags Darien Lake in Darien Center, New York, USA.

History

Predator opened on May 25, 1990.[1]

Six Flags Darien Lake shared imagery of Predator with Titan Track, from Great Coasters International and Skyline Attractions, on May 12, 2022.[2][3] Approximately 250 feet of Titan Track was added in 2022.[4] An additional 200 feet and 360 feet of track were added in 2023 and 2024, respectively.[5] 230 feet more of track was replaced in 2025.[6]

Design

Elements

Since its inception, Predator has been known as perhaps one of the roughest roller coasters around. This has led to a series of construction projects that sought to ease the roughness of the track in many areas. In 2006, a major retracking was completed. For the 2010 season, Predator received new rolling stock by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc.[7][8]

Titan Track

For the 2022 season, GCI was contracted to install new steel Titan Track on a section of Predator that was known to be extremely rough on riders as well as the track itself. The section, commonly referred to as the "death turn" due to its rattling effects on guests was the only section retracked in Titan Track.[7] Additional Titan Track was installed in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Trains

2 trains with 6 cars per train. Riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows for a total of 24 riders per train. This was the last roller coaster to use trailered Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc. trains. One of the ride's trains used to operate on The Voyage at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari.

Trivia

  • The ride used to have an on-ride photo system where riders could buy a photo of themselves on the ride at the exit, but the feature is now discontinued.
