Blast Off is a Drop Tower built by US manufacturer S&S currently located at Six Flags Darien Lake in Darien Center, New York, USA.

History

This tower was originally paired with a Turbo Drop tower, which opened in 2001 at VisionLand (now Alabama Splash Adventure). The attraction was named StratosFear Screamer and the two towers were both leased from S&S Worldwide. The Turbo Drop tower was later removed due to the park's financial problems, leaving a single tower. The Space Shot was retained by the park.[1][2] The removed tower later reopened in 2004 and now operates as Down Time at Lake Compounce.[3] Following the closure of the amusement park after the 2011 season, StratosFear Screamer was sold.

The attraction was sent to Darien Lake, where it was renamed Blast Off. It opened in 2013 on the spot previously occupied by Raging Seas.[4]
