Sesame Place (Texas)
Amusement park in Texas, USA
More actions
Sesame Place was a theme park based on the television series Sesame Street located in Irving, Dallas County, Texas, USA. It operated for three seasons, from 1982 until 1984.
History
Sesame Place opened on June 18, 1982.[1] It was the second park to open as part of the Sesame Place joint-venture with Children's Television Workshop and Busch Entertainment Corporation following the park in Pennsylvania. The park cost $10 million to construct and was mostly indoors.[2]
Unlike its sister park, the Texas location was not a huge success and after finishing its 1984 season in October, Busch Entertainment announced in January 1985 that the park would not reopen for the 1985 season.[3]
