Drachen Fire

Hi, thanks for your contributions so far. One thing, the "Drachen Fire was designed by B&M" thing has been added a few times but I've never seen a good source for this. Please don't add this in again. If you like, we can discuss this matter on the article talk page.

Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 16:54, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Recent uploads

Hello, the last couple of images are again labelled as own work. I can see that the first one has been taken from Flickr. Could you describe what problems you are facing with the upload tool? Please do so before uploading any more images. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 21:10, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

- Well, the Share Flickr tool couldn't read the images.

If the tool isn't working, it doesn't mean that uploading images without the correct license info is permitted. I've tested it with one of the pictures you uploaded (https://www.flickr.com/photos/milst1/4673197102/), pasting this address into UploadWizard is working for me. If other photos are not working, perhaps they're not under the correct Creative Commons license. UplaodWizard Flickr tool only works with CC-BY and CC-BY-SA - you need to check the license of the photo on Flickr before uploading.
I am here to help you upload the images correctly. I know it's rather tedious, I didn't develop the tools. The developers of UploadWizard decided to only allow it to upload CC-BY and CC-BY-SA images. Any further questions just ask! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 21:35, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for making sure the images are correctly uploaded recently. You can save some time by using the "Upload from Flickr" tool in the UploadWizard, I've tested it on my account and another account and it appears to be working fine. For CC-BY and CC-BY-SA images it's much easier to use than copying the information over from Flickr manually.
Thanks! 11:19, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

Drachen Fire: stop

Hello, please see the message above on this page. Do not add the B&M rumour back to the Drachen Fire page. There is no source for it. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 13:49, 14 February 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Copyrighted images

Hello, some of the images you've uploaded are not under Creative Commons licenses. Please check prior to uploading an image. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 17:33, 26 February 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Wildlife Park

Hello thanks for creating the Family Coaster page. In the future if you realise you've created a page at the wrong title please just move it to the correct one or slap a {{delete}} tag on it. An admin will spot it and delete the page for you. Thanks 176.12.107.137 16:08, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sorry, I forgot to log in! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 16:10, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Copyrighted images

You've been blocked from editing as you've continued to upload copyrighted images. I simply don't have time to check through all your uploads to make sure they're okay to use. Upload files correctly (with a URL to the original file on the description page) or not at all. This is your final warning. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 16:59, 9 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Categories

There's no need to add categories to pictures when there's only a tiny bit of the ride in the picture. It's messy and makes finding good photos of each ride harder. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 18:45, 10 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Welcome back

Hello, welcome back. Please have a read through the reasons you were blocked above and let me know or write on the Discord if you need any help in the future. Hopefully with the lockdown we can add lots of content! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 19:00, 25 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Monster

Thanks for pointing that out, I'm still not that familiar with flat ride types. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 11:25, 26 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Beast file

Hi, this file is not under a Creative Commons license. I'll hold off on blocking you this time as it may have been a mistake - almost all of Jeremy Thompson's images are uploaeded under Creative Commons. You must check before uploading, if you do not have the time to check every image carefully, do not upload. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 18:37, 26 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Page deletion/move

Do you need an admin to move/delete a page?

Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 19:11, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Reminder

Hello, thanks for sticking to uploading Creative Commons licensed images. In future could you please make sure to add a link to the image source when uploading - as I have done here? Thanks again Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 23:43, 7 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Licenses on photos

Please stop altering license details on previously uploaded photos, unless there was an error. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 23:55, 12 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Flickr uploads - please link to the source

Hello, thanks for sticking to CC licensed images. Please always include a source URL when you upload. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 22:07, 15 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Looks like you got the hang of it. Let me know if you have any questions! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 20:39, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Re: Flat Rides

Hello, that was actually what I was about to do but then I realised the list of rides on the Adventuredome page wasn't complete so I'm working on that instead. Do feel free to start adding flat rides to the navbox templates - there are instructions on Template:Amusement park navbox. Though I think it would be best to make sure the lists on the park pages are complete first, as then they can simply be copied into the navbox. Thanks! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 22:27, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Aerial views

Hello, they would need to be under a Creative Commons license or public domain, like all other photographs here. Not sure if you mean Google Maps, I think that's also copyrighted. If you like you can send me a link to the picture and I'll let you know if it's okay to upload.

Best wishes Lachlan (Talk | contribs) (an admin) 15:20, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ropes course

Hello, thought I would message you as you've added a few Ropes Course articles. My feeling is they're not really a "ride" and are beyond the scope of the wiki. Rather than keep them as separate articles, how about we list them on the amusement park pages instead? Please share your thoughts on the Talk:Ropes Course page if you have any strong feelings either way. Thanks! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 12:05, 19 May 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Recent edits to Six Flags Over Georgia

Hello, A post has been made about the Six Flags Over Georgia page. I'm not sure which of these rides was notable, this message is just to ask that you please leave an edit summary, especially when reverting, or when a new user is involved. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 08:33, 5 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Whitespace

Hello, please don't worry about changing the whitespace if there's nothing else to change in the article. It's not a problem to just leave it as it is. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:08, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Userboxes

Thanks for making the userboxes! Remember to add them to Coasterpedia:Userboxes when you're done. Thank you! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 09:33, 17 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Maverick heart line roll

Good find with the heartline roll photograph! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:09, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Newspapers.com

Hello, hope you're doing okay. Just noticed you removed the reference on Great Bear and that the link no longer works. Was it one you clipped up? As that's what I've been doing and I'll be quite frustrated if they delete all my clippings if/when I stop using the website. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 15:12, 21 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Blanking pages

Hello, please never blank an article. See Help:Delete a page for more information on how to suggest a page for deletion, or ask an administrator for help. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 00:42, 9 December 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Re: Delete Empty Files

Sure thing, and thanks for standardising the file names! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:30, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Okay that should be them deleted now, let me know if I missed anything. thanks again Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:51, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Edit summary

Hello, please avoid reverting another editor (especially multiple times) without leaving an edit summary explaining your reasoning. Unless of course, the edit is obvious vandalism. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:47, 6 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

File redirects and broken files

I'll delete the file redirects but please be patient. Also please do not blank any page. Even if it's a broken file. Bring it to the attention of an administrator instead. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:06, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

- Hey! When I attempted to move one file, it was broken. Can you please fix the two broken files? - Loch Ness

I've fixed it now, it didn't like the accent for some reason. Sorry about that. If it happens in the future please just let me know. Also, just a tip, if you put an extra tilde (~~~~) when signing off your messages, it'll add a timestamp too. Best wishes Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:19, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

- Hey! Can you please delete the redirects? - Loch Ness

10,000th article

Congratulations on creating the 10,000th article. Thanks for your help so far in building this wiki, and here's to the next 10,000! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:52, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Metric units

Thanks for your recent contributions. However, you need to use metric units for all attractions outside the US. Sources based outside the US will almost certainly be using metric, and RCDB allows you to switch to metric, so this shouldn't be a problem. Please only use imperial units for attractions in the US, use metric everywhere else. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:43, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

-- There are several broken files! Can you please fix them for me? Thanks Loch Ness (Talk | contribs) 21:07, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sure, I'm working on it now. If by tomorrow you still see broken ones please send me a link to them. Also, I added your signature back. Signatures are good! Thanks again Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:15, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Should be fixed now. I've raised the upper limit for image sizes. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:20, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello, using the correct units is wiki policy. Please make sure you do this, make sure all articles you create from now on follow the guidelines in my message above. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 17:07, 2 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Infoboxes

Hello, did you get the infobox issue sorted? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:14, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Multi-track infobox drop

Should be fixed now. Make sure to use four tildes when signing (~~~~), and it'll leave a timestamp too. Thanks! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 16:29, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Usage of imperial units

Hello, this is your final warning. You must use the correct type of units when creating articles - imperial for American rides and coasters, metric for everywhere else.

There are a couple of reasons why I created this policy:

  • Almost everywhere outside the US, information is supplied in metric. Converting that to imperial before entering it into articles introduces inaccuracies.
  • This website is used by people all around the world, some of whom use metric and some use imperial. This system means that every attraction uses measurements familiar to those who live in that country.

I'm happy to discuss with you further, please leave me a message or join our Discord channel. But currently, you need to follow this system. You will be blocked from editing if you keep creating articles with the wrong units. Remember, you can change RCDB to use metric.

Best wishes Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 16:29, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks for fixing those pages! Leave me a message any time if you get stuck with anything. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 16:56, 17 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Scooby's Ghoster Coaster Opening date

Hi, you added a opening date for Scooby Doo's Ghoster Date, but no source, please add it or remove it if there is none

Greetings QDude24 (Talk | contribs) 15:31, 22 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Removing images from articles - Enterprise (Alton Towers)

Yet again I'm unsure why an image was removed from a page. This image shows how the ride appeared pre-X-Sector and adds interest to the article. Unfortunately most visitors to the site won't venture as far as the image categories, so it's important to display as much as possible on the article page. Jason foulkes (talk) 01:04, 10 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Elements

Hello, I don't believe you're on the Discord channel so I thought I'd send you a quick message to explain why I nominated a load of the elements for deletion. It has been noted that the sheer number of elements is confusing, and many of them are only used once or twice. Today, QDude24 pointed out some that are only used on one coaster, not listed on RCDB, or very similar to other elements, and I went ahead and nominated them for deletion. I invite you to join us on the Discord or leave a note on one of the talk pages of the elements articles if you'd like to discuss elements more. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 19:54, 26 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Whitespace and minor edits

There is no need to edit just to move things about and add or remove line breaks. You seem to be doing this at random and it wastes other editors' time having to check all these edits. If you're looking for something to do, you're welcome to help convert imperial units to metric units, or add missing ride links to the navboxes (the collections of links at the bottom of articles). You make a lot of good edits here, but there's no point wasting your time adding/removing line breaks when it doesn't change how the article looks to readers. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:32, 29 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You need to stop moving things about (like the "units" parameter") when it makes no difference to the page. I hope you can see how it makes life more difficult for others who are trying to check edits. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:48, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am specifically referring to edits like this. Don't do this. Adding the line break doesn't make any change to how the article appears. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 17:02, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You will be blocked from editing if you continue to make this sort of edit. You've made several good edits today, thank you for those, but I've already explained why you need to stop messing around with the whitespace. Leave me a message if you have any questions. Everything else you're doing is good, but if you click "show changes" and the only changes are adding or removing line breaks, don't save the edit. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 19:21, 7 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

May 2021

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for the following: ignoring warnings on making lots of small edits that don't actually have any visual impact on the article. This is a collaborative website, you need to take on others' feedback and engage in discussion. This is your third block now, admins will block you for longer if you keep making these edits. Leave a message on your talk page or send me an email if you have any questions.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, or for any other queries, please write a message below this box. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 17:22, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello, edits like this one also fall under the "small edits that don't actually have any visual impact on the article" bracket, and actually make the source code longer which isn't helpful. Your other edits today are generally good, thank you for all your help in building this website. Just stick to the useful ones and if the edit makes no difference to how the article looks, don't save it. Best wishes Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 19:05, 24 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
This is your final warning. Edits like this, this, and this are pointless. Stop making edits that have no visual impact on the article. You will receive a lengthy block if you do this again. Thank you Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 19:59, 28 May 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

June 2021

This is a reminder that little edits that don't have any visual impact on the article are not permitted. Please see this, this, this, this, this, and this. If you continue making similar edits, you will be blocked for a lengthy period of time. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:06, 17 June 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for the following: Continuing to make these small edits shuffling things about without having any visual impact on the article. Me and the other administrators just don't have the time to review all these pointless edits. Please have a break from editing for two weeks and consider that this is a collaborative project. Editors need to communicate and my talk page is always open if you want to chat.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, or for any other queries, please write a message below this box. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 13:08, 25 June 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello, while I'm happy to see you back and editing, I have to warn you to not push your luck. Your recent changes to Justice League: Battle for Metropolis (Six Flags Magic Mountain)‎ and Justice League: Battle for Metropolis (Six Flags Great America)‎ fall into the category of pointless edits that make no visual difference to the article. Don't make such edits again or you will be blocked for a lot longer than two weeks. Thank you Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 19:42, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I did make some minor edits! Loch Ness (talk) 20:03, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I know, I saw you marked them as minor. But please don't make that sort of edit at all. The "minor edit" checkbox is for fixing typos, small rewording, etc. You make a lot of good edits here, don't waste your time making pointless ones that don't change the look of the article at all. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:11, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

September 2021

Please don't edit unless you have something to add. You will be blocked from editing next time. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 14:22, 20 September 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for the following: Same as before, making pointless edits like this that don't change the look of the article. Next time, it'll be an indefinite (permanent) block. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, or for any other queries, please write a message below this box. Moving images within articles

Please stop moving images in articles. I placed them where I placed them because I believe it makes the article look smarter. Feel free to place any images you add wherever you want, but please stop moving around those added by myself and others Jason foulkes (talk) 12:22, 22 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

UploadWizard

Should be fixed now. Also about the images, don't stress over it but please do take on board the messages left here. We can all decide on the best way to build the wiki together, but to do that we need you to respond to messages here and please leave an edit summary especially if you're undoing or changing someone else's work. Thanks for your continued help! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 01:13, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Style guidelines: Captions and galleries

In the hope of making the website consistent across all articles, I added a section on captions to the Manual of Style. Basically, avoid periods unless there are multiple sentences in the caption. We were also talking about a consistent header for image galleries. We could have "Images", "Image gallery", "Photos", "Photo gallery", or just "Gallery". Personally I prefer to avoid using "Photo" as some pictures are postcards or diagrams, and not actual photos. Let me know if you have any thoughts or you can share them at Coasterpedia talk:Manual of Style or on the Discord. Merry Christmas! Recent edits

Hello, happy new year! I noticed you made a lot of good edits recently and added a lot of new references, thank you for these. Though you're still making some pointless edits like this one. Please keep up your good work with adding references and fixing mistakes, but stop with the pointless edits that don't make any difference to the article. Leave me a message if you have any questions. Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 00:44, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Stop making edits like this. Remember you have already been blocked in the past for doing this. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 16:33, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also I forgot to say, I was thinking of changing the categories for photos. Instead of having "Rides in..." categories, the ride photo categories would just go under the park category, with the coasters. So rides and coasters would be treated the same. It would reduce the number of categories we have to make. Let me know if you like/don't like it or have any better ideas! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 17:09, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Only a week later you're back to pointless changes like this and this. Making the source code neater is not a valid reason to edit. You need to slow down and think more about your changes. Perhaps leaving an edit summary would help you... if you can't think of one then perhaps you didn't make any actual changes and you can cancel the edit. Your account will be blocked if you continue to make these edits, I don't want to block your account but I will if you keep ignoring warnings. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:31, 18 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This is your final warning, next time you make an edit like this your account will be blocked. My talk page is always open if you need help with anything. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:37, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay! I won't do this again! How long will I be blocked if I do this? Loch Ness (talk) 20:43, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm sorry but I don't know, we don't have a strict guideline for how long to block someone. If it were me I would say two weeks. But as I said earlier I don't want to block you. Admins don't want to waste time checking edits that don't change anything. I really recommend you use "Show changes" and "Preview" to double check if you actually changed something before hitting "publish". Do this and keep up the good edits, I know you can do it.  :) Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:54, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Potential new skin

Hello, as I'm not sure if you're on the Discord I wanted to copy this message over to here so you can see it.

I want to announce well in advance that I'm thinking of changing the default skin. The current one (Refreshed) hasn't been updated for a while and is causing some problems with VisualEditor. My favourite at the moment is the Citizen skin (available as a choice in preferences) though I will modify it quite a bit before it is set to default. I want to keep the menu always visible on desktop (as it is now) and add more colour to it. The Citizen skin has advantages of faster search, variable width, and dark mode

Please share with me any feedback on the current skin or the Citizen one Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 14:29, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

All caps

Hello, the All caps article has some good information on how all-caps text is harder to read and comes across as shouting, which isn't what we want for our articles. Could you please convert titles of references into lowercase text? Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 13:40, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please remember to convert all caps to lowercase, like I did here. Thank you Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:21, 5 March 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Image removal

Hey, am just wondering why you removed the image from Scrambler (Kings Dominion)? Thanks Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:52, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

And Dorney Park's Ferris Wheel page, where Lachlan also had to restore the image.
https://coasterpedia.net/w/index.php?title=Ferris_Wheel_(Dorney_Park)&curid=37006&diff=194751&oldid=194706

May 2022

If you want something to do, how about converting non-American articles to metric? You've been here for three years now so you know better than to make these tiny, pointless edits. Your account will be blocked if you make another one. Also, please reply to future messages posted here. We want you to keep editing here but its difficult to work with you when you don't communicate. Keep up the good edits Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 14:17, 6 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for a period of 2 days for the following: making pointless edits that have no effect on the visible article, like this. It's not fair on other editors who are patrolling edits and having their recent changes feed clogged. Next time it'll be an indefinite block. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
