Escape from Pompeii is a Shoot The Chute built by Intamin currently located at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA. It opened on April 25, 1995. The ride is themed around the August 24, 79 A.D. volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and is housed inside a large show building with lots of fire effects and a collapsing statue.
History
Escape from Pompeii opened on April 25, 1995.
On July 21, 2018, one of the ride's flamethrowers caused the ride's show building to catch on fire. No one was in the park at the time and the fire was put out quickly. Escape from Pompeii was closed until May 2019.
