Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is an indoor roller coaster manufactured by Dutch firm Vekoma currently located at Epcot in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA. The attraction includes on-board audio with one of six popular songs from the 1970s and 1980s.[1] These songs include:
• Conga by Gloria Estefan
• Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears
• Disco Inferno by The Trammps
• I Ran (So far away) by Flock of Seagulls
• September by Earth, Wind and Fire
• One Way or Another by Blondie
The cost of the ride has not been revealed but has been estimated to be $500,000,000.[2]
History
The ride was confirmed as a roller coaster by Epcot’s vice president Melissa Valiquett during the Epcot 35 celebration in October 2017, making it the first roller coaster in Epcot.
At the D23 Expo in Japan in February 2018, the ride was also confirmed to be the world's longest enclosed roller coaster. The record was previously held by Temple Of The Night Hawk at Phantasialand, which is 3,851.7 feet long.
In November 2018, it was confirmed that the ride would be a new type of spinning roller coaster from Vekoma known as a "storytelling coaster" or "omni-coaster". The spinning would be controlled to synchronize with elements of the story.
At the D23 Expo in California in August 2019, the name of the coaster was announced as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. It was also stated that it would have the first reverse LSM launch on a Vekoma coaster.
Following previews for passholders, employees, and others, the ride opened to the public on May 27, 2022.[3]
An extended outdoor queue area was added in the summer of 2023.[4]
