Underground is a wooden enclosed dark ride roller coaster located at Adventureland in Altoona, Iowa, USA.

History

Underground opened on April 27, 1996.[1] The attraction was closed for the entire 2023 season, during which it was refurbished.[2] It reopened in 2024 with a refurbishment by Gaff Box.[3][4]

Design

The Underground is located indoors and is kept in the dark. It has various characters designed by Themed Environments and Effects.

Trains

The lap bar restraints

2 trains with 6 cars per train. In each car, riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows, for a total of 24 riders per train. The first and last cars were removed from each train during the 2019 season. The last cars were added back on for 2020, but are currently not open to riders.
