Falcon's Fury is a Drop Tower located at Busch Gardens Tampa in Tampa, Florida, USA. The ride reaches a maximum height of 335 feet, making it North America's tallest free-standing drop tower. Riders experience about five seconds of free fall, reaching a speed of 60 mph. The ride's name was chosen to invoke a falcon's ability to dive steeply at high speed to capture prey. Falcon's Fury is located in the former spot of Sandstorm.
History
The project was originally planned to begin in 2012 with the ride opening in 2013, but it was delayed by one year.
Falcon's Fury was publicly announced on June 11, 2013.[1] On February 28, 2014, Busch Gardens Tampa announced that the new ride would open on May 1.[2] On April 18, the park announced that the opening would be pushed back due to "ongoing construction requirements".[3][4] Its opening was ultimately delayed until September 2, 2014.
Falcon's Fury was temporarily closed for inspection after an accident on Orlando Free Fall in March 2022.[5]
