Racing Coaster, originally known as Derby Racer, was a möbius loop wooden roller coaster previously located at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
History
Derby Racer opened in 1913 and was built at a cost of $45,000.[1]
The ride was renamed to Racing Coaster to avoid confusion in 1921 when the similarly-named Great American Racing Derby opened within the park.[2]
The ride was modified in the early 1940s by Howard Stoneback.[3]
Incident
In the 1920s, a recent high school graduate fell to his death after linking arms with a rider in the opposing train. He was pulled from his seat when the trains diverged, dragged a distance, and then fell through the ride's framework.[4]
