Table Layouts
What is the standard rollercoaster table layout for theme parks? Also, can we insert images from RCDB? Thanks! Griffysboy (talk) 23:07, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, Six Flags Magic Mountain uses the default table layout for example. Sadly we can't just use any photo from rcdb, though you can always get in touch with the photographer for a certain picture to ask if we can use it. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 12:50, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, Lachlan! I have a question for you! Can you please delete File:Patriot (California's Great America) 2017 03.jpg and File:Patriot (California's Great America) 2017 04.jpg, because I made some major mistakes? Loch Ness (talk) 20:10, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, I can delete those for you. Though I'm confused, what mistake did you make? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:06, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

G-Force descriptions
Hello, what happened to the g-force templates in the infoboxes? Even when I use the non-deprecated g-force thing, g-force still doesn't appear. Griffysboy (talk) 19:01, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for letting me know, there was a problem with the documentation for the template. I'm not sure why, but it didn't match the actual template code. I've changed it now, so in the source code editor you'll want to use the
|g-force=
parameter, and in VisualEditor the correct parameter is now marked and the wrong one is marked as "deprecated". Hope this helps! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:51, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
Adding a Ride here
Can you be able to help me here I was wondering how would I make a page for a amusement ride that I like and I would like to have it on the page for Wisdom Rides page and I don't know how to do that I have my own photos and information on it. Thanks Avalanche92 (talk) 22:51, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- Hello @Avalanche92, is it Genesis (Wisdom Rides product)? You can start a page by clicking that red link, or you can use the Coasterpedia:Article Creator. For adding photos, you can use Special:UploadWizard. Once you've created a page, I can help you format it and add the relevant categories. Best wishes Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:58, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
Magic Kass
Can you add Magic Kass to the website? THANKS Sc (talk) 19:58, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- I saw you went ahead and added it. In the future, I recommend using the Article Creator, that way, the suitable templates will be pre-loaded. Best wishes Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:49, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
SeaWorld Ohio
Hi, it may be easier to keep the SeaWorld Ohio page in the Geagua Lake page, but the park did have one ride, Mission: Bermuda Triangle, a simulator ride that opened one year before the park was sold in 2000 CoasterDave (talk) 09:11, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm okay, thanks for letting me know. I think that's one to resolve if/when an article on that ride is created! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:29, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Is it possible to change username? There is personal information. Am9619175544 (talk) 14:31, 27 May 2022 (UTC)

- Hey @Am80567126 sorry for my slow response. Yes the ride type (Drop Tower) is correct. For the height, the infobox doesn't support multiple heights - it can only be one height. So I've removed the height from the infobox. I have changed the formatting of the Free Fall Tower (Pax Company product) page, here, which should have fixed any errors. Making these tables is very fiddly in the VisualEditor so I recommend using the source code editor. If you'd like a better explanation of what I changed let me know and I'll try my best! - Generally the park name in brackets should match that of the park page, which I have moved to Park Topolya as we discussed. Sometimes we will shorten that in page titles but Park Topolya is already short enough. No need to include Orenburg as there is only one Park Topolya. Hope that makes sense! I will move the page for you Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 14:41, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Elitch Gardens Turn of the Century
Hello,
I work as a ride op at Elitch Gardens and have operated Turn of the Century. I know that the Vekoma Flying Carousel is not a very well known model, but if you wish the next time I go into work I can offer proof that the ride is indeed a Vekoma. This was actually pointed out to me by one of my fellow ops, who saw the ride incorrectly listed on the wiki as a Zierer Waveswinger. If you wish to include the admin on this discussion, you may feel free to do so.

Hello, which ride type does ride Hip-hop belong to. There are many of them in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan. There are several manufacturers. I think it may be necessary to create a new ride type if the existing ones do not fit.

Adding photos
I don't know how to add photos to pages. Can you explain to me how to do it please? KingofMagic (talk) 15:23, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @KingofMagic I just saw your reply on your talk page. So if they are your own photos you can upload them using Special:UploadWizard and then insert them into articles. If they aren't your pictures, you can link to them (use the chain link icon in the edit toolbar, or just pase the URL), or send them to me on Discord, but we can't embed them into articles.
- I see based on your user contributions that you've been editing with mobile. I am not familiar with inserting photos on the mobile editor. If you are able to, I'd recommend doing it on a computer. I will have a go with the mobile editor in the meantime and see how it works, it's been a while! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 15:32, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

- Hello, the only article on this type we currently have is Majia and there is no type assigned to it. I can't think of anything so I'll ask on our Discord. However, some products don't fit into any "type" and that's okay - a type is a collection of more than one similar products. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:01, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- Also, thanks for making all these pages, it is really good to get rid of some redlinks and expand the wiki! But could you please slow down a little and add more to each of them? For XXL, we have five of these rides listed that could be added just by copying info from the existing articles. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:14, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Redirects
Hey, Lachlan! I probably didn't do a good job looking, but I couldn't find anything about how to make an Automatic Page Redirect. For example, if User clicks a link to the National Amusement Device Company page, I want them to be automatically taken to the International Amusement Devices page. (I need this redirect because I literally spent 30 minutes making the NADC page when somebody has already made the IAD page, which are essentially the same page. No offense to the person who made the IAD page, but I don't want this issue happening to anybody else.)
Thank you for reading and I look forward to your reply! SFGAM-Enthusiast (talk) 06:52, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello! To setup a redirect you need to just create a page and add the following text:
- #REDIRECT [[International Amusement Devices]]
- For future reference it’s always worth searching the site before working on a new page to ensure you’re not duplicating work, it’s easy to miss redirects when creating a page!
- Thanks for contributing to Coasterpedia, and please do reach out again if you have any more questions! Alex (talk) 09:16, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Scenic Railways vs Side Friction
I noticed that there is no scenic railway subcategory in side friction. Do you plan on adding one? I think it would be worth doing, as they are 2 mechanically different ride types that use different track designs (and have historically used very different braking systems as well). I think it would add a lot of clarity for people who are unfamiliar with the mechanics of the rides.
Also, thank you for helping me start off on this platform, and good to see a fellow railway enthusiast here too! Vekoma453Ms are short (talk) 02:26, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Vekoma453Ms are short, welcome. I am sure there is a big overlap between people into coasters and people into trains!
- Our ride category pages need a lot of work - so I welcome any suggestion on how to use them. If you can draft a page about Scenic Railways, that may be a good starting point. We can then do a update to record the addition of the new type Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:33, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
Update on the Sega pages
Hey Lachlan, i've been progressing on the Sega ride pages well. I've found some more sources for opening and closings for the movie tie-in walk-throughs, and I am also planning on adding the remaining rides I have not added yet onto the pages (i.e. the red links).
There's still lots of attractions I have not added in yet (i.e. the instalment of AS-1 at Innoventions at Epcot from the 1990s and places such as Sega VirtuaLand) but I think so far, I have progressed well.
Another thing, do you think the Joypolis page should also be a redirect to the Sega page as well? Mainly because I think it would work better for the Joypolis parks to be in a dedicated category instead. What do you think? LTPHarry (talk) 23:08, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding these - I am struggling to keep up with patrolling them all but that's a good thing really! I don't mind about the separate Joypolis page - I see you already merged these. I'm happy either way. Not sure what you mean about a category though? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 16:19, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- Essentially I was looking at other theme parks that were part of chains and they had categories listing them as part of said chain. I thought from that; that the Joypolis and Galbo pages didn’t need to be standalone. I turned them into redirects to the Sega page because it seems easier to keep everything in one place. LTPHarry (talk) 16:28, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
Image Use:
Hi Lachlan, I am a brand new contributor to this wonderful wiki. I have recently used and uploaded a image that came from SmugMug, believing it to be fair use. As SmugMug is owned by Flickr, I think it suits the requirements in copyright and it is an perfect fit for my article. I selected CC public domain by mistake, how can this be changed? MK700 Geek (talk) 18:59, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to the wiki. I had a dig around but sadly I don't think photos on SmugMug are Creative Commons, and there doesn't seem to be a way of searching through CC images on there either. On Flickr, you can search under Creative Commons, but unfortunately I can't find any photos for the ride you've picked out. There's still loads of other photos to add though for other parks, and if you have any photos you've taken yourself we would be very happy if you're willing to add those. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:27, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
Kyoto Joypolis
I happened to look through another Japanese Sega magazine that Sega Retro had archived and did some translation on the Kyoto Joypolis page. I re-added some of the attractions because from the way they were described, they are Walk-Throughs. There's some nice clear images of the starting attractions as well. (the part about Kyoto Joypolis starts on no. 128 of the document[1]) LTPHarry (talk) 19:29, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- Sounds good - I'll have a look when I'm on my computer. Though please do pull as much info as you can from it. Walk-through attractions are all good 👍 Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:02, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- I've been making some custom pages on my sandbox for the non-amusement attractions at Sega venues, namely the arcade game ones like Virtua Formula and The Lost World: Jurassic Park Special. Obviously they won't be added here (as I already gave them brief mentions in the Joypolis pages), but I felt like it would be nice to see how the page format works for them. LTPHarry (talk) 23:05, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- I wonder if you could put them on the Sega Retro wiki? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 07:35, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Sounds good, but they have plenty of information on the rides already and as I stated, what I am doing in my sandbox is just something I wanted to try out. Sega Retro isn't a full theme park wiki after all, as it documents everything to do with the company. If it wasn't for the contributors on that site, there would barely be any information related to the Joypolis parks that hasn't been archived yet. LTPHarry (talk) 14:52, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Another question to ask you. Would it be fine for me to add relocated installments of Sega attractions from other parks as separate pages until there is written proof of the attraction having been relocated? (this is on part with the fact that there are little, if any sources to back up, e.g. the instalment of Ghost Hunters at Yokohama Dreamland, which was likely relocated from one of the Galbo parks). LTPHarry (talk) 23:09, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
- @LTPHarry Yes that's what I would do - you can always say we don't know where the ride came from or where it went. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:24, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks! This was a scenario with the installment of Mad Bazooka that became Hell Fighter at another park. I speculated that it was the one from one of the Galbo venues because Sega would obviously not construct a large attraction like that for a park they never owned. For now, I’ll just list it down as a separate thing. LTPHarry (talk) 21:28, 28 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks 👍 BTW, you removed the "indoor" category from a couple of the Sega parks, were some of these outdoor? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 07:40, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- It was because they were Game Centers and not parks (and why I had a feeling that they didn’t need the category because I already have Arcade or Indoor FEC for some places), and obviously you wouldn’t want those to be outdoors or the machines get damaged!
- Once again, a Game Center is the Japanese term for an arcade. LTPHarry (talk) 10:59, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- Ah okay - makes sense. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 12:18, 29 July 2024 (UTC)

Questions
Hey Lachlan, got two question to ask you:
Firstly... do you count these type of Go-Karts as proper attractions? [2] (personally, they look like those coin-operated drive-on vehicles you see at some funfairs/theme parks) I'm making pages for the Flip Out indoor venues as I noticed some of the newer ones now have Dodgems and Electric Go-Kart tracks, but two earlier venues had these drive-on Go-Karts.
Secondly, would you count those respective rides as proper attractions as well? (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1436761293072704) They are those drive-on vehicles I mentioned in the brackets) LTPHarry (talk) 02:06, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hmmm, it's all a bit of a grey area but that first set you linked to look too small. At the moment, we only count Go-Karts if they're in a park with other attractions. So if there are dodgems too, they can be counted. I wouldn't count on us always recording Go-Karts though as there has been some talk of removing them in the past. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 13:50, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Okay then. I’ll only add the venues that have the Dodgem tracks alongside the Go-Karts if they have any. LTPHarry (talk) 15:38, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Okay! Sounds good. And thanks for adding all the sources Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 17:17, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- You’re welcome! The more pages the better!
- Is your answer to the second question I asked the same as the first as well? LTPHarry (talk) 17:23, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hmmm, I guess you could count them as Dodgems? Are they coin operated too? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 17:27, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- I don’t know if the Flip Out Go-Karts are coin-operated, it’s just what I see them as. The Quad Bikes are from Clarence Pier, and they appear to use the same technology.
- The whole reason I asked about that was because Stevie Geek took an image of them in his 2017 trip to the Pier. He’s taken images of those generic simulators (eg, the ones that show Roller Coaster views) you find inside arcades as well, but I don’t think those count as attractions when compared to the Sega simulators. What would you say? LTPHarry (talk) 17:34, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- And to solve an unanswered question from last year, I found some decent photos of the rides at that indoor theme park area in a hotel I stayed at in Turkey one year (once again, it's Sueno Hotels Deluxe Belek)

- Most of these rides I once found on various Chinese websites, so it could be that they were mass-produced. I can't find proper manufacturers, though. A lot of Turkish hotels have these type of rides anyway. LTPHarry (talk) 15:44, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Looks good - we can use those to add info to the Sueno Hotels Deluxe Belek page! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:51, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- If you do though, please find the page containing the image rather than linking directly to the image. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:52, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- That was my intentions! By the way, what was that flat ride called (the one that I didn't know the name to) LTPHarry (talk) 22:23, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- I don't recognise it - I'm not sure it fits in any of our existing ride types. Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 17:17, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, i'll excuse that anyway.
- Oh, I did return to Clarence Pier and I had a look at those quad bikes, and they are coin-operated. So they won't do. I could guess on the topic of motion simulator attractions that non-coin operated ones aren't allowed either (which is good because it would be too much clutter otherwise). LTPHarry (talk) 17:59, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- We do have motion simulators on the wiki- you've added a bunch of them! Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:13, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- I don’t know why I said that! I was not referring to attraction simulators (like the Sega ones), I was referring to the generic coaster ones you can find in arcades. LTPHarry (talk) 18:28, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ah okay - to be honest I'm not sure about what we would count or not. QDude is the expert Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 18:44, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- Alright. Would be okay for me to delete this talk page post? LTPHarry (talk) 21:41, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Another Question
This in relation to Brighton Palace Pier's new kiddie attractions. Do you know if they were new or sourced from other operators/theme parks? (or is this something Jason foulkes will know more about?) Also, would it be fine if I used the photos from the Pier's Twitter and/or Facebook page? LTPHarry (talk) 15:25, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- Jason is your man for this sort of thing - as for photos, we only use them if they are explicitly marked as for media use. Hope this helps Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 17:35, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- Alright. The photos aren’t explicitly marked as such, so I’ll just leave them be. LTPHarry (talk) 17:44, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- If you do visit again soon and snap some photos, you're more than welcome to add those 👍 Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 22:58, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- The fact is, I’ve never been before, once. I never really leave my hometown of Portsmouth, and so Clarence Pier and South Parade Pier are my nearest amusement facilities! LTPHarry (talk) 23:31, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, I was getting it muddled up with Clarence Pier. You should go to the Isle of Wight though if you haven't already - easily reachable from Portsmouth and worth a visit Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 07:50, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- I’ve been to the Isle of Wight once back in 2008, and it was a nice place. LTPHarry (talk) 14:05, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

DisneyQuest Attractions
I made a page on DisneyQuest but I want to verify myself on the attractions I listed as at least three of them appear to just be large arcade game/video game-type attractions, e.g. Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam.
Would you classify the Aladdin attraction there as a proper attraction for this site as well? It's just a wall with a VR headset where you simulate yourself being in Agrabah. But since you accepted The Crypt (A Joypolis attraction that had a similar concept), I guess this is fine? LTPHarry (talk) 19:06, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- Personally I wouldn't call that Aladdin experience a ride no. As for The Crypt, I'm not sure. If it really is just standing/sitting with a headset on then I would say it also isn't a ride - but maybe it contains walk-through elements? Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 20:40, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- This website (https://www.evl.uic.edu/pape/CAVE/pictures/Joypolis/) does display images of The Crypt and it’s just a basic room with a VR headset, but you do walk around a simulated horror room. The Aladdin Magic Carpet ride description on Wikipedia says: “ A VR attraction where attendees wear a head-mounted display that simulates a magic carpet through Agrabah. Players collected gems to find The Genie, who has been hidden away in the Cave of Wonders.” It does sound like it uses very basic flying theater technology, but there’s not much else to describe it aside from a room with a VR headset.
- So, in regards to that Mighty Ducks ride at DisneyQuest, would you simply classify it as a n arcade-style game or something then? LTPHarry (talk) 20:51, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
Minnie's Style Studio at Tokyo Disneyland
I know this is just a Minnie Mouse meet-and-greet set within a themed building and interiors, but do you count it as a walk-through as well from that? (I likely say it's a no, as meet-and-greets with characters aren't proper attractions). The Mickey's House attractions I just added are proper walk-throughs and the meet-and-greet doesn't always happen, but who knows? LTPHarry (talk) 20:35, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about walk-throughs. @QDude24 is the expert on those 👍 Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 21:46, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- Okay then, I’ll ask. LTPHarry (talk) 21:54, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
Question about a certain ride
Hey Lachlan, i've got a question to ask you. So, Destination Z at Funland Hayling Island was turned into a Walk-Through attraction during this year's Halloween event and going forward. (some people were saying that the train part of the ride has been moved as part of the walk-though, but I don't know for sure) So, in this case, would there need to be two separate pages for the ride then, or just one? LTPHarry (talk) 23:03, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Given it's not definite that the original ride has closed, I would just add some more info to the Destination Z page. If the original ride doesn't come back next year, we can reconsider. Tagging @QDude24 as our Halloween/walk-through rides expert Lachlan (Talk | contribs) 14:50, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- We currently don't really list halloween-only walkthroughs, and our current Destination Z page is for the ride system. So if the ride system is permenently removed that article needs to state closed. If Destination Z reopens as a walkthrough only outside of halloween, it would need a new page for that. But not if its halloween only, since we don't list walkthroughs if they are only for halloween (yet at least) QDude24 (talk) 15:17, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- I do believe it’s a permanent walk-through like the ride was. This is why I asked from the start, but obviously we will have to wait until next year. LTPHarry (talk) 15:28, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
