Hopi Hari is an amusement park in Vinhedo, São Paulo, Brazil. It opened to the public in November 1999 and has four roller coasters.

History

The park was originally designed and conceived by Playcenter São Paulo, who wanted to create a new theme park near Sao Paulo. They carefully chose the location, as they didn't want it to be too close to the original park but also didn't want it to be too far. The park was to be called Playcenter Great Adventure. The project was announced in 1995 and began construction the following year. Playcenter sold the project during construction due to lack of visitors in Playcenter São Paulo and GP Investments (one of the co-workers of the park) continued the project where it left off. International Theme Park Services Inc was brought on forward too. They based the project off Kings Island.[1][2]. The Playcenter branding was cut from the park and construction continued in 1997. After stopping that year again due to the lack of documents referring to nature impact, the project continued construction again in 1998. In November 27th, 1999, the park opened to general acclaim.

Throughout the years, the park has also faced a lot of issues. An accident in the La Tour Eiffel (Hopi Hari) drop tower in 2012 forced the park to shut down for a week. On May 12th, 2017, the park shut down due to finantial and economical issues and sat standing but not operating until August 4th, when it reopened with 85% of the rides in operation, a "record", according to former park president José David Xavier.[3]
