Kings Island is a theme park located in Mason, Ohio, USA. The park is owned by Cedar Fair, and was operated by the Paramount Parks chain from mid-1992[1] to June 30, 2006[2] after it was acquired from the newly-formed CBS Corporation. Kings Island is one of two operational Cedar Fair parks in Ohio, with the other one being Cedar Point. Kings Island is the second most visited seasonal theme park in North America, behind Canada's Wonderland.
History
Kings Island opened on April 29, 1972. It was built as a replacement for Coney Island in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
The park was renamed to Paramount's Kings Island in 1993. Following its sale to Cedar Fair in 2006, the name reverted back to Kings Island in 2007.
