Valleyfair is an amusement park located in Shakopee, Minnesota, USA.
History

Valleyfair was developed by a company formed by 12 businessmen. Fred Pierce Jnr, owner of the Excelsior Amusement Park until its closure in 1973, was the vice-president of this company. During the park's construction, the Carousel from Excelsior was rebuilt at Valleyfair, where it remains today. The park was designed to resemble a turn-of-the-century trolley park.[1] Valleyfair opened to the public on May 25, 1976.[2]
In September 1978, Valleyfair was sold to the owners of Cedar Point.[3] The company subsequently re-branded as Cedar Fair in 1983, combining the names of their two parks.
On August 4, 2020, the park announced that it would not operate at all in 2020 due to challenges associated with the coronavirus pandemic.[4]
