A view of the restraints

Chaos was a product from Chance Rides which was produced from 1996 to 2007. Over 50 units were manufactured, but none remain in operation as of 2024.

Design

Eighteen gondolas seating two riders each are mounted round the circumference of a spinning disk, whose height and angle is controlled by hydraulic actuators. Each gondola is free to rock and flip, leading to a different experience each time.

Riders are held in by over-the-shoulder harnesses.

The attraction could be packed on to a single trailer.

History

Chaos was first produced in 1996.[1]

On June 20, 1997, Chance Rides issued a service bulletin that required all owners/operators of a Chaos ride to perform a rework of the lap bar indicator light wiring.[2] On July 7, 1999, Chance Rides issued a service bulletin that required all owners/operators of a Chaos ride to inspect the restraint bars for cracking.[3]

By 2001, there were reportedly 52 units in operation.[4]

The Chaos product was discontinued in 2007.
