River Rapids are a water-based attraction designed to mimic whitewater rafting.
History
The first river rapids attraction was Thunder River, which opened at Six Flags AstroWorld in 1980.[1] The concept was reportedly dreamed up by the park's general manager Bill Crandall after he watched the 1972 Munich Olympics kayak event. The park worked with Intamin to create the ride.[2]
