Plopsaland De Panne (formerly called Meli-Park) is a theme park in De Panne, Belgium. The park is owned by Studio 100 (Plopsa). As its name suggests, Plopsaland has many rides and areas themed around Plopsa's characters, such as Wickie the Viking and House of Anubis.

History[edit]

The park was started by the Meli company, who produces honey, in 1935 with the opening of a cafeteria near its packaging facilities. In 1952, a zoo and gardens were built. Meli relocated its manufacturing facilities in 1955, however the park remained.

It was not until the 1970s that amusement rides were added.

In 1999, Studio 100 purchased Meli Park. The sale was completed on October 4.[1] The park reopened with a new theme in April 2000.
