Black Squid was an Octopus built by US manufacturer Eyerly Aircraft Company that was previously located at Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom in Aurora, Ohio, USA.
History
The ride originally opened as Spider in 1970.[1]
The ride reopened as the Black Widow in 1991.[2]
In 2000, as part of the Six Flags Ohio remodel, Black Widow was relocated once again to a near location near Skyscraper.[3]
In 2002 after being put into storage during 2001, Black Widow was reinstalled on the brand new "Wild Life" section of the park, further rebranded to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in 2002.[4]
Six Flags eventually sold Six Flags Worlds of Adventure to Cedar Fair in March 2004. On September 21st 2007, Cedar Fair announced that Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom would only operate as a water park only, with the ride side permanently closing.[5] Black Squid was sent to Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia, USA in 2008 to be rebuilt for the 2009 season, however the ride was determined to be in poor condition to be reassembled and was eventually scrapped.
