Halfpipe Tokyo (Japanese: ハーフパイプ トーキョー) is a Sega Halfpipe Canyon ride located at Tokyo Joypolis in Odaiba, Minato, Tokyo, Japan.[1] It is located on the 1st Floor.[2]
History
Halfpipe Tokyo opened with Tokyo Joypolis on 12 July 1996. It was one of several newly developed attractions for the park.[3] The ride was originally called Halfpipe Canyon (Japanese: ハーフパイプキャニオン) and was the first installment to be produced, and currently the only one still in operation.
In 2012, to coincide with Tokyo Joypolis' remodelling, the ride was rethemed as Halfpipe Tokyo, where it gained new LED screens for displaying graphics and a dance-style soundtrack. It was marketed as the first "DigitaReal" attraction at the park.[4]
The soundtrack changes during special events at the park, similar to Gekion Live Coaster.
Design
The ride is 8 metres tall and there are four tracks, each with a capacity of two people.[5]
