About
Sega Arena opened on 17 July 1999.[1] With a "Dream Town" theme, it was the last of the Sega Arena venues to fulfill it's original purpose of being a smaller counterpart to the Joypolis amusement parks. It sat on the former grounds of Sega World Holiday Square, a smaller arcade venue. The venue also included a Sonic Bowl bowling alley alongside other facilities. The venue housed Murder Lodge and The Lost World: Jurassic Park Special installments, as well as a MaxFlight VR2002 simulator. These were all removed by the early-2000's.
In June 2009, Sega sold the venue alongside several other game centers to Taito Corporation, and it was rebranded under their Taito Game Station chain, while Sonic Bowl became X-Bowl. The venue continued to trade until March 2021.
