Noah's Ark is a Funhouse built by US manufacturer Philadelphia Toboggan Company currently located at Kennywood in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, USA.
History
Noah's Ark originally opened in 1936.
New stunts for the attraction were purchased from Leo Kathe, Cleveland, Ohio, USA in 1939 for $750. These stunts included Hissing Snake, Mice in Cheese, Running Rat, Dummy in Floor, and Skeleton.[1]
An additional walkway at the entrance was added in 1941 and new stunts were added in 1942.[1] New stunts from Traver Enterprises were added in 1948.[2]
It was refurbished in 1969 with the addition of smoke alarms, a sprinkler system, emergency exits, and a whale-shaped entrance.[3]
The ride was refurbished again for the 1996 season and reopened on August 12, 1996.[4][3] The whale entrance was removed during this refurbishment and a new "Elevator of Doom" was added.[3] The changes were designed by Bruce D. Robinson and many of the new special effects were provided by Techni-Flex.[3] The "boat" was replaced, although the rocking mechanism was retained.[3]
