Turtle is a Tumble Bug built by US manufacturer Traver Engineering Company currently located at Kennywood in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, USA. It is the only full-sized Tumble Bug left in operation.
History
The ride opened as Tumble Bug in 1927. In 1948, it was rethemed and renamed Turtle. The cars were replaced, and a sixth car added.
The ride underwent a $38,000 refurbishment in 1981, including a new track and rebuilt cars.[1]
On August 16, 2023, Kennywood announced that Turtle would close on August 20 for refurbishment. The ride is to be dismantled and the central foundation and structure replaced. It is expected to reopen in 2024.[2]
