The Shuttle Loop was a steel launched shuttle roller coaster product from Schwarzkopf. The first Shuttle Loop coasters opened in 1977, the same year that the first Launched Loop coasters from Arrow Dynamics were built.
Design
The product had three different versions. These featured either a flywheel, weight drop or tyre propelled launch. The Shuttle Loop has a simple layout consisting of one of these launched out of the station, through a vertical loop. This is followed by a vertical rollback to reverse the train back through the loop and through the station again. It enters a vertical spike behind the station and rolls back forwards into the station. The exception for this ia the tyre propelled version, this layout was designed to travel fairs and is thus more compact. That ride experience starts with a backwards launch out of the station, cresting the spike. This is where the train falls back into the station and gets a second launch into a diving turn where it ends up under the station. This is where the ride's vertical loop is located, wrapping around the station. The train then enters a rising turn and ends up on the rollback, where it reverses and traverses the layout again.
