Suspended roller coaster

Iron Dragon, a suspended coaster

A suspended roller coaster is a type of roller coaster where the train is held underneath the track. Suspended coasters are different from inverted roller coasters because suspended coasters have the ability to swing freely with lateral g-forces.

While Arrow Dynamics produced a prototype suspended roller coaster with a corkscrew, no suspended roller coasters with inversions opened to the public.

Schwarzkopf GmbH was going to build a suspended roller coaster for Busch Gardens Williamsburg which would have opened in 1984. However, this project was cancelled in 1983 after the Schwarzkopf company went bankrupt earlier that year.[1]
