D'Oude Tuffer is a Track Ride built by German manufacturer Metallbau Emmeln currently located at Efteling in Kaatsheuvel, North Brabant, The Netherlands.
History
The original D'Oude Tuffer opened in 1984 and was built by Mack Rides, but was in bad shape after 35 years of operation. The Efteling decided to close the ride on February 18, 2019. And build a new ride with identical layout in its place. The new ride would differ from the old ride in a few ways. Some scenes would be added, and the interactivity would be changed. Originally, guests could actually steer the cars like on many other Mack models, however, this function was removed in the new version, and replaced with a horn. Guests could activate the horn near scenes, in order to activate said scenes.[1]
Design
The ride features five scenes, four of which are interactive.
Ride system
The ride utilises the Guided Ride system build by Metallbau Emmeln, featuring 18 cars and a double loading/unloading station.
Location
The ride is located in the "Ruigrijk" area of the park, roughly translating to "Thrill Realm".
Etymology
D'Oude Tuffer is old Dutch for Old Timer. The ride can also be referred to as De Oude Tufferbaan (Old Timer Track) or D'Oude Tuffers (Old Timers).
Theme
The ride is themed to a farmland, with many chicken figures littered in the area and scenes.
