HELP |
Giant Wheel is a Ferris Wheel located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, USA. It opened in 1972.
History
Giant Wheel opened in 1972 in approximately the location where Millennium Force's station and queue line are now.
Between August 12 and September 2, 1972, disc jockey Mike Kelly set a new world record when he continuously rode Giant Wheel for 21 days, 3 hours, and 58 minutes. He rode in a specially-equipped cabin on the ride and remained on the attraction overnight with an air mattress-sleeping bag combination. Kelly was permitted 15 minutes off the wheel each day for hygienic purposes.[1][2]
Giant Wheel was relocated to its current spot in 2000 to accommodate Millennium Force.[3][4]
