The ride in 2018

History

The ride first opened in 1992. It was built in house by the park and opened as Beaver Creek: The Ride as part of the retheming of the Funshineland children's area into Beaver Creek. It was opened by entertainer Ross Abbot.[1]

At some point during the late 1990s and early 2000s, the ride was rethemed as Chewits Log Chute, as part of a sponsorship deal between Blackpool Pleasure Beach and confectionary brand Chewits.[2][3]

By 2005, the sponsorship between Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Chewits eventually expired, therefore the ride became known as Beaver Creek Log Chute. Later in 2006, the ride's name was eventually reverted back to Beaver Creek: The Ride.

In 2011, when Beaver Creek was rethemed to Nickelodeon Land, the ride was rethemed to Rugrats Lost River, themed after the 1998 Nickelodeon film The Rugrats Movie of the Rugrats cartoon franchise. The ride received new theming elements as part of the rebranding.[4]
