The Whip was a Whip built by US manufacturer W.F. Mangels that was previously located at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, UK.

History

It was built by American firm W.F. Mangels and was purchased by Blackpool Pleasure Beach for $4,700, opening in 1914. A plaque on the ride stated that it opened in 1921. However, this has been disputed by other sources.

In 1991, the ride was moved to its final location, partially underneath Revolution.[1]

It later closed in 2005, being left standing but not operating until it was removed in September 2008. The ride was purchased by the Save Dreamland Campaign after months of negotiations, being relocated to the site of Dreamland Margate as part of a planned heritage park that was proposed by The Dreamland Trust.[2][3] It was subsequently left in storage.

By 2015, the ride was eventually relocated to the Port of Ramsgate for further storage, subject to discussions between the Dreamland Trust and the new operator of Dreamland Margate, Sands Heritage Ltd about whether the still intact ride would be refurbished and installed in the reopened park.[4][5]

As of 2016, the ride is still believed to be in storage at the Port of Ramsgate.[6]
