Clown Coaster is a kiddie roller coaster located at Wicksteed Park in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England, UK.
History
The ride first operated at Smart's Amusement Park for at least one season as the Circus Clown. The year isn't known, however it was a few years prior to the Zyklon.
It was then sold to the Thompson family and operated at Pleasureland Southport during the 1986 season. From here it moved to sister park Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 1987, retaining the Circus Clown name. It was later renamed to Morgan's Circus Clown Coaster as part of the rebranding of the Funshineland children's area into Beaver Creek. It closed in 2008.[1][2][3]
It was subsequently sold to and returned to Pleasureland Southport, now rebranded as Southport Pleasureland in 2009 under new ownership. It regained the Circus Clown name and operated until 2010.
Wicksteed Park later purchased the coaster for £20,000 and reportedly spent £130,000 on refurbishing it.[4] It reopened at Wicksteed Park in October 2011.
Design
The ride has an oval-shaped layout.
