Red Arrows SkyForce is a Sky Fly installation from Gerstlauer. The ride is located at Pleasure Beach Resort in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, UK, beside the Big One's lift hill. It replaced Bling, which closed in 2011. The theme is based on the Red Arrows, an aerobatics display team which is part of the British Royal Air Force.[1]
History
The attraction was announced in October 2014. It opened to guests on 2 May 2015.[2] An official opening ceremony was held on 25 May, which included a performance from the Red Arrows themselves.[3]
On 20 February 2025, Pleasure Beach Resort released a statement which stated "We have made the decision to close some of our smaller, less popular rides." These rides were: Eddie Stobart Convoy Ride, Alpine Rallye, Thompson Carousel, Gallopers and Red Arrows SkyForce.[4]
Design
Twelve single-rider gondolas are attached to an arm, which spins in an elevated circle 30 metres in diameter. Each rider controls two wings attached to their gondola, allowing control over if and how often the gondola inverts. The ride reaches heights of 22 metres while in operation.[5]
