History

The ride was originally known as Hanseatic and was built for German travelling showman Rudolf Robrahn in 1979.[2] The ride was sold to the Bembom family who opened the ride at Bembom Brothers Theme Park for their first season in control of the park in 1982. For the 1986 season the Hanseatic was sent on loan to Pleasureland Southport for 2 years.[3][4] From here the ride was sold to German showman Karl Josef-Weihs at the end of 1987, who renamed and redecorated the ride into the more standard Pirat.[5]
