Skull Rock is a Zamperla Sea Storm currently located at Lightwater Valley in Ripon, North Yorkshire, England, UK. It has operated in the Skeleton Cove area of the park since 2011, alongside a number of other ex-Loudoun Castle rides.
History
The ride originally opened in 2001 at Dreamland Margate in Margate, Kent, England as Regatta.[1] It operated until it was closed in 2004.
In February 2005, the ride along with the Wild Mouse were dismantled and sold to Henk Bembom, the owner of Loudoun Castle in Galston, East Ayrshire, Scotland. The ride would lay in storage until it opened at the park in 2006, retaining the Regatta name and theme from Dreamland Margate.[2][3] The ride would continue to operate until Loudoun Castle closed on 1 October 2010.
After Loudoun Castle closed, Regatta, along with a few other rides from the closed park, were sold to Lightwater Valley in Ripon, North Yorkshire, England. The ride was then subsquently dismantled and removed from the site in Scotland. The rides that were purchased from Loudoun Castle were installed in the park as part of a new pirate-themed area known as Skeleton Cove. Regatta was completely refurbished and repainted after arriving from Scotland. The ride was renamed to Skull Rock and opened with the Skeleton Cove area in 2011.[4][5][6]
