Powder Kegs is a Breakdance built by German manufacturer HUSS currently located at Lightwater Valley in Ripon, North Yorkshire, England, UK. It has operated in the Skeleton Cove area of the park since 2011, alongside a number of other ex-Loudoun Castle rides.

History

Rodeo opened at Six Flags New England (then Riverside Park) in 1998, and was first called Barrel Of Fun, featuring barrels for ride vehicles. It was painted grey. For 1999, It was relocated to the new Crackaxle Canyon area facing next to Tomahawk, a neighbouring HUSS Frisbee flat ride.[1] In 2001, it was renamed to Rodeo.[2] Rodeo operated at Six Flags New England until it was removed at the end of the 2007 season on October 29, 2007 due to unpopularly.[3] The ride was subsquently listed for sale on International Rides Management in November 2007.[4][5]

Over the 2007/2008 winter period, Rodeo was dismantled and sold to Henk Bembom, the owner of Loudoun Castle in East Ayrshire, Galston, Scotland, UK. Bembom also owned Parkware Ltd, a ride dealer who leases rides to other operators. After leaving Six Flags New England, the ride was exported to the UK from the USA. It arrived in Scotland in early February 2008. It was installed in Loudoun Castle's Pirate Cove area replacing Captain's Wheel, a HUSS Enterprise, which previously operated on the site from 2003 to 2007. The ride opened at Loudoun Castle in 2008 as Storm Breaker,[6] retaining the same color scheme from Six Flags New England. It operated until the park permanently closed on 1 October 2010.[7]

After the park closed, Storm Breaker, along with some other Loudoun Castle rides, were sold to Lightwater Valley in Ripon, North Yorkshire, UK. The ride was then subsquently dismantled and removed from the site in Scotland.[8] The rides that were purchased from Loudoun Castle were installed in the park as part of a new pirate-themed area known as Skeleton Cove. Storm Breaker was completely refurbished and repainted after arriving from Scotland. The ride base and arms were repainted orange and brown. The ride was renamed to Powder Kegs and opened with the Skeleton Cove area in 2011.[9][10]

In 2022, Powder Kegs was repainted gold, dark brown and grey.
