Catapult was a Sky Swat located at Six Flags New England in Agawam, Massachusetts, USA.

History

The ride was announced on February 7, 2003, along with Diablo Falls.[1]

The ride originally opened in 2003 at Six Flags AstroWorld as SWAT.[2][3] The ride was built on the former plot of Texas Tornado, which was removed the previous year.

On October 30, 2005, Six Flags AstroWorld closed permanently and SWAT was relocated to Six Flags New England.[4][5][6] There, it reopened as Catapult in 2006.

The ride was originally planned to be removed after the 2007 season along with Rodeo, Kontiki, Double Trouble and Bumper Buggies, due to its unreliability.[7][8] Six Flags subsequently put the ride up for sale on Irmpri.com (International Rides Management) in November 2007.[9][10] The decision was reversed in December 2007 when the park decided to keep the ride along with Kontiki and the ride listing was later removed before the end of November.[11] The ride was overhauled and rehabbed with the restraints being fixed up. The ride reopened for the 2008 season and was more reliable.

Catapult unexpectedly closed for good in 2012. It was removed in March 2013 before the start of the 2013 season and was scrapped.[8][12] New England SkyScreamer's queue line was built on the former site of Catapult in 2014.
