Astroway was a Ropeway built by Swiss manufacturer Von Roll that was previously located at Six Flags AstroWorld in Houston, Texas, USA.
History
On June 1, 1968, Astroway opened with AstroWorld in Houston, Texas, USA. The ride featured two stations, "Oriental Astroway" and "Alpine Astroway", which connected the Alpine Village (later European Village) and Oriental Village areas.
The ride was temporarily closed in July 1978 after an accident on the similar Sky-Way at Six Flags Over Mid-America in Eureka, Missouri, USA.[1]
In 1981, Astroway received brand new cars and a new control system.
In 2002, the ride's cars were repainted red, white and blue.[2]
Six Flags AstroWorld closed permanently on October 30, 2005.[3] Six Flags would relocate many of the park's rides to other Six Flags properties, while others were put up for auction or demolished for scrap. Astroway was scrapped after the park's closure, with the ride's towers being removed by March 2006.[4][5][6]
