Opryland USA
More actions
Opryland USA was an amusement park in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. It opened in 1972 and closed in 1997. A shopping mall named Opry Mills now exists where the park once was.
History
The park opened on May 27, 1972 and cost $28 million. It was owned by the National Life & Accident Insurance Co.
Following Opryland USA's closure in 1997, many of the rides were sold to Premier Parks in November 1997 in a deal for $7,034,000 and were relocated to the site of Old Indiana Fun-n-Water Park in Thorntown, Indiana, USA. This was a property that Premier Parks (later Six Flags) planned to develop into a new theme park. The park was never built and ultimately most of the rides were scrapped between 2003 and 2006 after Six Flags sold the property in July 2002.[1][2][3]
