HELP |
Backlot Stunt Coaster is a steel launched roller coaster located at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, USA. The ride originally opened on May 20, 2005 as The Italian Job: Stunt Track and was themed to the climactic chase scene at the end of the 2003 film The Italian Job. It was changed to a more generic theme at the start of the 2008 season due to the park no longer being associated with Paramount and Viacom properties.
When the ride opened, it featured an on-board audio soundtrack. Halfway through the ride, the train stops, and a helicopter starts shooting bullets, then an explosion is let off near the train.
History
In August 2004, it was announced that The Italian Job: Stunt Track would be coming to Kings Island and Canada's Wonderland.[1]
In March 2005, some parts of the ride were damaged by a fire at a Utah warehouse.[2]
The Italian Job: Stunt Track opened on May 20, 2005.
The ride was renamed Backlot Stunt Coaster in 2008.
