A splashdown is a portion of track immersed in a body of water. The train descends into the water, creating a large splash which can soak riders, spectators or both. This reduces the speed of the car considerably.
Splashdowns are an integral part of water roller coasters and water rides.
Splashdowns appear similar to water brakes, however in the case of water brakes the track is not immersed and only a small portion of the train comes into contact with water.
