Interlocking corkscrews are two corkscrew inversions that spin around each other; one turns riders upside down over the other. Usually, only a turnaround hill separates the two corkscrews. It was first used by Bolliger & Mabillard.
Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa, opened in 1993, was the first roller coaster ever to feature interlocking corkscrews.
Dragon Challenge, opened in 1999, was the first inverted roller coaster with interlocking corkscrews, as well as the first and only roller coaster to have two separate tracks interlock with each other - the first corkscrew on the "Chinese Fireball" track interlocked with the corkscrew on "Hungarian Horntail". The roller coaster closed in 2017.
Nemesis Inferno was the only inverted roller coaster with interlocking corkscrews on the same track from its opening in 2003 until 2016, when the Chinese-built Soaring Dragon & Dancing Phoenix opened at Nanchang Wanda Park.
