Texas Chute Out was a 200-foot-tall Paratower built by Swiss manufacturer Intamin formerly located at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas, USA.
History
Texas Chute Out opened on April 10, 1976.[1] It is one of three Parachute Tower units purchased by Six Flags. The other two were Great Gasp at Six Flags Over Georgia and Sky Chuter at Six Flags Over Mid-America .
Starting in 1977, six of the 12 gondolas were modified to accommodate riders in the standing position. This was offered until 1994, at which time the stand-up baskets were removed and only eight gondolas were now used.[2]
During the holiday season, Six Flags Over Texas closed the ride and used its frame to create an oversized Christmas tree display.[3]
On August 2, 2012, Six Flags Over Texas announced that both Texas Chute Out and Flashback would close on September 3.[4]
The ride closed on September 3, 2012, and was demolished with explosives on October 10, 2012. Texas Chute Out was one of the two attractions at the park to get imploded, with the other one being Wildcatter.[5]
