Sky Hook was a Von Roll Parachute tower variant that previously operated at Magic Springs in Hot Springs, Arkansas, USA. Prior to its time in Arkansas, it also operated at Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, Georgia, USA and Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas, USA. Prior to this, it operated several other locations in Europe, such as the 1958 Brussels World Fair.

The ride was manufactured by Von Roll of Switzerland.[1]

History

The ride originally was built in 1910, as a Von Roll Holding Cargo-Crane, which was later converted into an amusement attraction in the 1930s. First making its debut in 1937 at the Paris World Exhibition, 1937.[2] Then at the 1939 Swiss Expo.[3]

The ride then operated at the Brussels World Fair in Belgium during 1958.[4][5]

The ride was later sold and operated at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas, USA from 1963 through 1968.[1] It was then relocated to Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, Georgia, USA, where it operated from 1969 through 1977.[6]

From 1980 to 1984, a similar ride called Cloud Grabber operated at Silver Dollar City (Now known as Dollywood). However it is unknown if this is the same ride that previously operated at Six Flags Over Georgia.

The ride was relocated to Magic Springs, where it opened with the park in 1978.[7] In its later years, it was used as a bungee-jumping platform.[8] After the park closing for renovations in 1995, the ride was eventually removed, and scrapped in 1996.
