Aquaman Splashdown is a Log Flume built by US manufacturer Arrow Development currently located at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, USA. The ride interacts with Logger's Run. A near-identical ride previously operated at former sister park California's Great America.
History
Yankee Clipper opened on May 29, 1976 as one of the park's several opening day attractions. The ride’s color scheme for its vehicle boats were all originally white and red it’s entire life prior to its retheme in 2022.
The ride was renamed to Ice Mountain Splash at one point.[1]
On March 24, 2022, Six Flags Great America announced that Yankee Clipper would be rethemed to Aquaman Splashdown as part of the new DC Universe area of the park.[2] Some of the boat's retained their white color scheme on the bottom but with the red repainted yellow, some of the others were repainted sea green with orange acents. The ride’s lift hill portion along with it’s intertwining sister flume, Logger’s Run, were given a sea green repaint, the harder to see portions from eyesight, remain untouched and faded however.
The ride's orginal Yankee Clipper sign is now a prop in the Six Saint's Cemetery, a graveyard paying tribute to the park's past attractions during the park's Fright Fest event. However, there is no prop headstone for the ride due to it still being still there, but rather its original identity is now dead.
The ride once had an exact copy operate at Six Flags Great America’s former sister park, California’s Great America that also opened in 1976 lasting until 1998.
