Orbit was an Enterprise built by German manufacturer Schwarzkopf that was previously located at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, USA. The ride was previously known as Orleans Orbit.
History
The attraction opened along with the park in 1976 as Orleans Orbit in the park's Orleans Place section. The ride was removed in 1983 to make room for Roaring Rapids in 1984. The ride was relocated into Hometown Square in 1986 and replaced Bottom’s Up, a Chance Rides Trabant.
Orbit was removed in 2016. It was replaced by Lobster which was relocated from the park’s Yankee Harbor section in order to make room for Joker. Following the ride's closure, one of its cars and its sign have been used as props for the Six Saints Cemetery, a graveyard that pays tribute to Six Flags Great America’s defunct rides during the park's Fright Fest event.[1]
