Disneyland Park is an amusement park located in Anaheim, California, USA, owned by The Walt Disney Company and operated by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. Originally known as Disneyland, it opened to the general public on July 17, 1955. In 1998, the theme park was re-named "Disneyland Park" to distinguish it from the larger Disneyland Resort complex. Disneyland has the most cumulative attendance of any theme park in the world, with close to 600 million guests since July 18, 1955. In 2018, 18.7 million people visited the park, making it the second most visited park in the world during that year.

History

Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955 to an invitation-only crowd of over 11,000 people. When it originally opened, park tickets were only a single dollar. This only included entry to the park, but any attractions visitors wanted to ride would cost an extra 10 to 30 cents per ride.[1]
