Helicopters was a Junior Jets ride built by US manufacturer Allan Herschell Company previously located at Southport Pleasureland in Southport, Merseyside, England, UK.
History
The ride was originally built in 1960 and opened at Blackpool Pleasure Beach as Helicopters as part of the Emberton's Kiddies Park.[1][2] Despite its name, the ride also featured plane gondolas in addition to its helicopter gondolas.
It would continue operation for over 50 years, surviving the retheming of the children's area into Funshineland and Beaver Creek.[3][4]
The ride closed after the 2010 season as part of the retheming of Beaver Creek into Nickelodeon Land.
It was then sold to former sister park Pleasureland Southport, which now at that point was rebranded to Southport Pleasureland under new ownership. It reopened there in 2011, retaining the Helicopters name and colours from Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
It operated there until 2014 when it was closed and removed. The ride however was retained in the park for static decoration.
