Houdini's Great Escape is a Madhouse built by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma currently located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, USA.
History
Houdini's Great Escape opened in May 1999 as part of the "War on Lines." A similar ride, Houdini - The Great Escape, opened at Six Flags New England in 2000. The ride was closed for the entire 2008 season.[1]
Ride experience
The ride begins with a preshow telling you about Harry Houdini, his life, and accomplishments. It then tells that a medium is going to resurrect Houdini using his props and mementos. The spirit of Houdini appears and directs riders into the main room, where lapbars lower and Houdini expresses his displeasure at the medium resurrecting him. He uses the riders in his "greatest illusion," as the background begins to rotate upside down, while the seats gently swing back and forth, thus giving riders the illusion they're inverting. After the motion stops, Houdini unlocks the door, and riders exit.
