Super Sidewinder was a spinning ride located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, USA. It was the prototype and ultimately only SideWheeler installation from Chance Rides.[2]
History
This was one of three new rides added in 1976, the other two being Alpen Blitz and Musik Express.[3] For 1979, the ride was moved to the back of the Kiddie Kingdom area in order to make room for a pathway to the new Rolling Thunder roller coaster. Super Sidewinder was removed after the 1983 season and replaced with a children's playground as part of the redevelopment of Kiddie Kingdom into Shirt Tales Land. The ride was ultimately scrapped.[2]
Design
This unique ride consisted of nine circular gondolas each seating sixteen people in eight rows of two. Three arms each carried three gondolas. In total the ride had a very large maximum capacity of 144 guests per cycle.[2]
