Swashbuckler is a Round-Up built by US manufacturer Hrubetz currently located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, USA.

History

The ride opened at the park in 1980 as Super Round Up, replacing an earlier identical ride which closed the previous year.

In 1993, the ride was repainted from blue to maroon. The ride's queue received an revamp with new concrete and new queue line curbing. New landscaping was also added. The ride's name was also changed to Fantasy Fling in order to suit the Fantasy Forest area.

In 1999, the ride was relocated within the park near Batman The Ride in Movietown to make room for Evolution as part of the War On Lines expansion.

In 2001, the ride was moved once again to allow construction for Nitro and was relocated to the former site of Spinnaker in the Lakefront section, which was removed at the end of the 2000 season. It was repainted aqua and dark blue as part of this move.

The ride was originally planned to be removed after the 2007 season.[1] It was put up for sale by Six Flags on Irmpri.com (International Rides Management) in November 2007, although it was ultimately never sold and removed from the park. It reopened for the 2008 season without closure.[2][3]

In 2011, the ride was renamed to The Tornado due to a sponsorship with Tornado frozen snack foods. It was repainted red and yellow and gained a new ride sign. The following year, this sponsorship was removed and the ride was renamed to Swashbuckler.[4]
